New United Way President Leads the Way in Community Service

We were honored to be featured in a recent News-Item article spotlighting our new President & CEO, Mark Stankiewicz, and the mission that drives our work at Susquehanna Valley United Way.

Mark shared his personal journey, from growing up in Mount Carmel to working in nonprofits like the American Cancer Society and the ThinkBIG Pediatric Cancer Fund, to his return to purpose-driven leadership here at SVUW. At the heart of his message was one core belief: real change starts by addressing the root causes of the issues people face.

“People can fall on very hard times in the blink of an eye. It’s important to help in that instant, but at the same time we want to provide resources they need to change their lives,” Mark explained in the article.

He also shared how our organization is currently undergoing a brand refresh, embracing a bold new message: United is the Way. This theme reflects the energy and unity we bring to our partnerships with 56 nonprofits across Union, Snyder, Northumberland, Montour, and Columbia counties.

“We don’t want to just be a Band-Aid. We want to help people identify root causes and fix the issues.”
