Susquehanna Valley United Way Announces Record-Breaking Diaper Dash Results
United in creating access to basic needs for every child and family.
Susquehanna Valley United Way (SVUW) is proud to announce the results of this year’s Diaper Dash, which brought in 18,892 diapers and pull-ups, 131 packs of wipes, and dozens of essential baby care items for families across the region. This marks SVUW’s most successful collection to date, surpassing last year’s total of 12,490 diapers.
All donated items are already being distributed to diaper banks across Columbia, Montour, Northumberland, Snyder, and Union counties, ensuring families have access to the essentials they need.
“Our region showed up in an incredible way,” said Mark Stankiewicz, President & CEO of Susquehanna Valley United Way. “The outpouring of support for our annual Diaper Dash shows just how much heart the Susquehanna Valley has. Thanks to the generosity of our partners and neighbors, so many families will have one less thing to worry about just before the holiday season. When we are united, amazing things are possible.”
Many of the families supported through the Diaper Dash are part of the region’s ALICE (Asset-Limited, Income-Constrained, Employed) population — households working hard yet struggling to afford basic necessities. The rising cost of diapers, wipes, and baby essentials can force impossible tradeoffs. This year’s collections help ease that strain and ensure children have the supplies they need to stay clean, healthy, and safe.
“Diapers are a basic need, but they’re also a financial strain for many families,” said Stephanie Reitmeyer, Senior Director of Family Services. “The diapers that we collected mean thousands of quiet worries eased. For families in our community, it’s more than a donation. It’s a reminder that they are seen, supported, and never alone.”
Donations are being distributed to the following community diaper banks:
