Grand Prize Winner: Honoring Kristy Teisher

Licensed Clinical Social Worker, UPMC | Founder of EatShare | Nominated by Mae-Ling Kranz

Kindness is not always loud.

Sometimes it is steady. Intentional. Rooted in how we see others.

For our 2026 Kindness Campaign, we are honored to recognize Kristy Teisher as this year’s Grand Prize Winner.

Kristy was nominated by Mae-Ling Kranz — a friend, prior colleague, and community collaborative partner — who has witnessed firsthand the way Kristy shows up for others across professional and community spaces.

Seeing the Whole Person

As a licensed clinical social worker at UPMC, Kristy works with individuals navigating systems that can feel intimidating and impersonal.

In her nomination, Mae-Ling shared:

“She takes the time to truly listen, to see the whole person, and to ensure individuals feel valued and respected rather than defined by their circumstances.”

That posture changes experiences.
It restores dignity.
It builds trust where it is often fragile.

Building Belonging Through EatShare

Kristy’s kindness extends far beyond her professional role through her founding of EatShare.

What began as a simple idea — sharing a meal — grew into a powerful expression of care.

EatShare offers free, welcoming community meals with no barriers, no questions asked, and no stigma.

At an EatShare meal, no one is asked why they are there. They are simply invited to sit, eat, and belong.

For individuals who are hungry, lonely, overwhelmed, or feeling invisible, those meals offer more than nourishment. They offer connection. Conversation. Community.

Inspiring Others to Care

Kristy does not seek recognition.

She shows up because she cares.

Her leadership is not performative — it is consistent. Through EatShare, she has built a volunteer-driven nonprofit rooted in dignity and belonging, empowering others to show up for their neighbors.

Recognizing her with this award will not change how she shows up tomorrow.

But it shines a light on the kind of compassionate leadership that strengthens community from the inside out.

For embodying the spirit of this entire Kindness Campaign — dignity, compassion, and belonging — we are proud to name Kristy Teisher our 2026 Grand Prize Kindness Award Winner.
