United Way’s “Diaper Dash” Kicks Off Across Five Counties
Weis Markets jump-starts the month-long drive with two pallets of diapers ($5,000 value)
Susquehanna Valley United Way (SVUW) launches its annual Diaper Dash. All October long, the Family Services team will collect diapers and wipes to ensure babies stay clean, dry, and healthy during the holidays.
Weis Markets, Inc. jump-starts the drive with a kickoff donation of two pallets of Huggies® diapers, a $5,000 value, to help our region start strong.
“Our kickoff donation reflects Weis Markets’ commitment to supporting local families during challenging times, because they shouldn't have to choose between buying diapers and putting food on the table,” said Maria Rizzo, Weis Markets Vice President of Marketing and Advertising. “We’re proud to partner with Kimberly Clark on this donation, and encourage our customers to join us throughout October by donating diapers at collection sites. Together, we can help ensure every baby in our community stays clean, dry, and healthy.”
Another organization leading the charge is the Susquehanna Human Resource Management Association (SHRMA), which rallied member workplaces to host an internal diaper drive and has already delivered a sizable donation. Their example shows how employers can engage their teams in giving back and make a direct impact - one pack at a time - for families this holiday season.
“Rising costs are a reality for working families, and diaper expenses add up fast,” said Mark Stankiewicz, SVUW President & CEO. “We are happy that we can help provide a bit of relief for local families in need of diapers. Our diaper drive is successful each year because of great community partners. This donation from Weis Markets will go a long way in helping local families with their supplies at home. When we work together, united, we can help one pack at a time.”
How to Help (All October):
Donate diapers and wipes at collection sites across the five-county region, including all Service 1st Federal Credit Union branches, all Central Penn Bank & Trust locations, all Greater Susquehanna Valley YMCA locations, and the Danville Area Community Center.

Host a workplace drive. Employers can rally their teams to collect diapers and wipes at the office and make a collective drop-off
Give online. Monetary gifts enable United Way to purchase diapers and wipes in all sizes, filling gaps for higher-demand sizes as needs change throughout the drive. Visit svuw.org/diaper-dash to contribute.
All donations collected during the Diaper Dash will be distributed to local pantries in Columbia, Montour, Northumberland, Union, and Snyder Counties, directly benefiting area families. Please contribute by October 31 to make an impact this holiday season.
“No parent should have to choose between buying diapers and putting food on the table,” said Stephanie Reitmeyer, Senior Director of Family Services at SVUW. “Diaper need is a silent crisis that affects the health and dignity of families every day. By simply grabbing a pack of diapers while you're out running errands and dropping them off, you're making a direct impact. Every single donation - big or small - helps ease a family's burden and brings comfort, dignity, and hope to caregivers and their little ones.”
