Kind Words, Kind Actions: Student Award Honoring Keegan Rice

Shikellamy High School Student | Nominated by Katie Rearick

Earlier this week, we introduced our new Student Kindness Award — recognizing young people who are actively shaping a culture of compassion in our schools and community.

Today, we are proud to continue that recognition by honoring Keegan Rice, a student at Shikellamy High School and team member at Weis Markets.

Keegan was nominated by his friend, Katie Rearick, who described him as someone who consistently chooses to lift others up.

Words That Matter. Actions That Follow.

Kind words can change the direction of someone’s day. Kind actions can change their confidence.

Katie shared that during a difficult season in her life, Keegan was always there.

“When I was going through a rough time… he was always there to help.”

Even more telling:

“Even when he was going through a hard time, he made sure everyone around him was okay before himself.”

Keegan doesn’t just speak encouragement — he lives it. He checks in. He listens. He makes sure others feel supported and included.

A Ripple Effect

Katie also shared:

“Because of him, I feel more confident and positive each day.”

That’s the impact of kindness modeled consistently.

By recognizing students like Keegan, we are affirming that leadership doesn’t wait for adulthood. It starts in hallways, classrooms, workplaces, and everyday conversations.

For embodying what Kind Words, Kind Actions truly means, we are proud to recognize Keegan Rice as a 2026 Student Kindness Award winner.
